How Businesses Can Better Serve the Disabled Community—with Kellina Powell - 120

What is it like to navigate the world with a disability?

People with disabilities often hesitate to speak up because they are so used to being dismissed. So, what can businesses do to be more inclusive and better serve the disabled community?

Kellina Powell is a young entrepreneur on a mission to educate others about the deaf community. A recent graduate of York University with a BA in Psychology, Kellina is building an online business that offers coaching for individuals with disabilities and training for companies on using technology to be more inclusive. Kellina lost her hearing at the age of four, and she is in the process of writing a book about what it’s like to be deaf in a hearing world.

On this episode of Wickedly Smart Women, Kellina joins Anjel to discuss her advocacy work for the deaf and disabled community, describing how that work inspired her to become an entrepreneur right out of college. She shares her vision for her speaking and consulting business and explains what she is doing to set herself up for success. Listen in to understand why it’s crucial for businesses to be mindful of the disabled community and find out how Kellina can support you in optimizing Zoom for the hearing and vision impaired.
