Do You Own Your Health Data?—with Estelle Giraud - 206

In the next five years, nearly everyone in the developed world will have had some kind of genetic testing. And this health data can be incredibly valuable.

But where is this personal information being stored?  And who owns it?

Estelle Giraud, PhD, is Cofounder and CEO of Trellis Health, a health data platform that gives users ownership of their health records and empowers them to advocate for themselves in a healthcare setting.

Estelle is a population geneticist by training with a background in biotechnology and frontier medicine, and she is passionate about safely storing healthcare data to create a better system for all.

On this episode of Wickedly Smart Women, Estelle joins Anjel to discuss how passion and urgency gave her the courage to build Trellis Health and describe how the platform addresses issues around privacy and ownership of health data.

Estelle shares the challenges she faces as a woman founder and scientist, explaining why we need more diversity in leadership and how she overcame biases to get funding for Trellis Health.
